FAQs

How did MyForexResults start?

MyForexResults started out in life with one clear aim... to document one man's forays into the world of forex trading.

A lot of sites offer all sorts of fx data, charts, analysis, discussion etc. However, it is virtually impossible to find any information on the actual trading results of retail forex traders, despite the clear popularity of the activity in recent years. This is possibly one of the more frequently asked questions on many forums 'how many people actually make any money doing this?'.

In an attempt to address this situation, MyForexResults was conceived as a place that would act as a focal point for people to see the Profit/Loss data of contributors who have developed their own trading strategies.

Of course, that was a little while ago now. These days MyForexResults also serves up a healthy selection of news, articles and tips on everything from strategies and money management to coding and brokers to keep you all informed and up to date on the latest developments in the exciting world of forex trading. We hope you'll agree that we have managed to achieve this without losing the clean, clutter-free site that we originally set out to create.

If you've got any comments or suggestions, then we always love to hear from you, so drop us a line!

What is MyForexResults?

MyForexResults is dedicated to providing users with a clean, well laid out website about forex trading. Primarily focusing on allowing users to share their strategies, backtesting, and live trading results with each other, it also aims to provide useful news, articles and services without confusing you with an overwhelming glut of content.

How do I share my strategies and results?

First of all you will need to create an account (very simple and very quick!). Once you are logged in you will arrive at your account page. On the left hand side menu, go to your 'Results' section. You will see the 'Strategy', 'Backtesting' and 'Live Trading' sections.

Before you can add your results data, you need to create your strategy, so click on 'strategy' to create your first one. Simply give it a name and tell other people something about it, the more detail the better! Click on 'Submit' and you're done! Now you are ready to upload your results data.

You can add data for backtesting and for your live trading results. It is a good idea to add data for both, as people will be interested to see how similar these look. Try to add data for backtesting and live trading that have occurred over the same period for an easy comparison. Click on either 'backtesting' or 'live trading'. To begin with, you will see an empty graph. Click on the 'update' button underneath the graph and add your data.

Your data needs to be in the format of a comma separated list of numbers (1,2,3,4 etc). You can use Excel to get your data into this format by putting it into a single row, saving the file as a .csv filetype, then opening the file with notepad.

How do I add newsfeeds to my account?

MyForexResults can act as a news aggregator, delivering all of your newsfeeds to you in one place. By default, the news page will serve up the latest fundamental news and technical analysis. But if you have added newfeeds in your account, these will also show up on the news page.

So, to add a newsfeed, simply go to your account section and in the 'my details' page, you will see the 'newsfeeds' section. Click on 'update', give your newsfeed a name (something you will recognise it by) and add the newsfeed URL. That's it! You can now go to the news page and see your newsfeed under the 'My News Feeds' heading!

Like any RSS reader, the URL you provide must be the one that points to the XML data. You usually find this by following the RSS symbol for the news channel you are interested in.
